No ballyhoo, gimmickry, shenanigans, hucksters or PT Barnum Hoopla– just one huge wave of gratitude washing over us as we conclude this incredible week. There have been a lot of words to sum up William Castle’s legacy here but somehow I’m speechless and humbled by all the amazing efforts, dedication, witty nuggets of facts hidden deep deep within the back story of the thing, all the heartwarming camaraderie, sense of community, mutual admiration, fair play, unique approach and prolific vision that each of you brought to the event just sort of blows my mind.
When I first dreamt up this blogathon honoring Mr. Castle, I never imagined in my wildest fancies that it could be this spectacular! And that’s because of all of you…
It just makes me feel such satisfaction to see how much of yourselves you put into each feature. How humorous, informative and unique you approached your version of Castle’s style and body of work. All I can seem to say is THANK YOU Goregirl ( I couldn’t have done this without you my brilliant & cheeky friend) and THANK YOU all… I am delighted and honored and really really proud that everyone had such a grand time… With tremendous gratitude your MonsterGirl- Joey
JUST A REMINDER THAT WE’RE EVER GRATEFUL TO DAVID ARRATE AND WENDY CHRISTENSEN FOR FOR THEIR INCREDIBLE BANNERS WHICH MADE THIS WHOLE SHINDIG A SMASHING SUCCESS
This is the last gasp of air we’ll all be able to settle down from the week’s excitement! No more buzzers under your seats, or skeletons in the cellar. No more Ballyhoo and Fanfare… at least until the next time… You’ve all been so swell, I feel all tingly inside… uh oh. Nah it’s just the warm glow of appreciation to so many wonderful and brilliant bloggers who turned out to help Terri and I celebrate the greatest showman of em all… I hope you all had fun. I know we did. And please, keep William Castle in your hearts and every once in a while dust off one of his fabulous motion pictures and make a night of it with the entire family. He lived to entertain you, I hope we did the same…

Thank you so much for having invited me, Joey! Who knows how long it would have taken me to revisit Castle and to discover my two favorite films of his had it not been for you.
It’s been my absolute pleasure my friend. AND… if it weren’t for your discerning eye for detail, I wouldn’t have revisited SHANKS or discovered the poignantly wonderful ITS A SMALL WORLD- we’re all connected -thank god for like minded pals
I can’t begin to tell you how absolutely stunned I am by the amount of work you put into your contributions. The piece about SHANKS is nothing short of brilliant- it’s insightful, informative, illusory, eloquent, inspiring. I always understood that you had a strong visual eye and sense for obscure high art, but your revelations and composition of the piece should be in a published journal. I can’t extend enough gratitude to you for the heart and soul you poured into this project. I’m thrilled to be part of what inspired you toward watching Castle’s SHANKS but you taught me so many interesting tidbits about the back story that it not only serves to fascinate me, it makes me want to delve into the film myself once again. Although If I covered the film I couldn’t never do it the justice that you did with your passionate critique. The pleasure working with you David is purely all mine. From your dedicated involvement, your incredibly evocative banners to your most compelling images and written piece. Thank you my brilliant, enlightened friend…
The marquee above reminded me that I had the good fortune to see “Bug” in a Drive-In as the B-movie attached to “Star Wars”. Since everyone had seen “Star Wars”, I recall getting more mileage out of telling my classmates about “Bug”. It wasn’t until this Blogathon that I discovered it was a Castle film.
Thanks so much for hosting this awesome event! The level of participation and entusiasm was inspiring. I hope to see you all ’round the blogosphere.
I would have loved to see BUG at the drive in back in the day. So many of Castle’s films go under the radar never being attributed to him, because people just assume he was the King of Huckstery
Take a bow, Joey and Terri , you richly deserve it after your lollapalooza William Castle Blogathon! Vinnie and I are happy and thankful to have had the pleasure and honor of being part of your awesome Blogathon, by way of Tales of the Easily Distracted! I’ve said it before, and by golly, I’ll say it again: You’re a sugar bowl with two handles! Thanks a million to you and Terri for including us in the Blogathon fun! :-D
AND thank you and hubby Vinnie for a most colorful, witty and well composed romp both of your pieces were as fun as a merry-go-round while eating ice cream cones that don’t drip. I don’t know how you do it. But the captions on ToTED make me do spit takes every time. You always pack so much extra informative factoids into your fleshed out pieces all the while making the read enjoyable, entertaining and just inspire you to want to watch the film right there on the spot. I love how well informed you are. And how much fun you and Vinnie seem to love what you both do. It’s wonderful to have had Team Barilucci on board for this event . It would not have been the same without your contributions. They were stand outs for sure. And I adore you both- If I’m the sugar, you’re the cream
